Deadline: 8th February, 2021
A recent survey reports that Uganda, Botswana, and Ghana rank as the world’s three leading economies having the highest percentage of women business owners.
This fact bears testament to the fearlessness and ingenuity of African women entrepreneurs who, despite the economic and social challenges facing their entrepreneurial ecosystems, are making impacts in their respective communities.
As good as this sounds, the World Bank research finding shows that although women’s entrepreneurship is increasing faster in Africa than elsewhere, however, most of the businesses are micro-small enterprises that hardly grow into larger profitable and sustainable businesses.
Knowing the problems faced by women entrepreneurs as well as the untapped growth potential of women’s enterprises, the Graça Machel Trust in collaboration with Virgin Unite launched the Women Creating Wealth- WCW program.
