Benedicta Chukwuyem Apuamah, has a background is Pharmacy, an active global leader and the founder of Girls for Development Goals Foundation a non-governmental, non-partisan and non-profit organization founded in 2016. Girls for Development Goals foundation operated with the name “Girls Health and Education Foundation” until 19th December, when they became fully registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
The organization was Born out of the need to impact communities through development projects around the following thematic areas: Sexual Reproductive Health (SRHR) with focus on: Teenage Pregnancy, Menstrual Hygiene, Nutrition, Education and Capacity Development.
Benedicta is only 26 years old and have inspired thousands of young people especially young women/girls. Her project has informed more than 3000 girls on Menstrual Hygiene and new Menstrual Products to mention but a few. She has taught girls the impact of education, refusal skills to tackle teenage pregnancy and the need to put away distractions and youth vices.
Benedicta said she is “passionate about girls having access to period products and debunking Menstrual myths”. She also advised other young change makers to “Have dreams that will impact not just you but your community, work hard enough, work smart, think outside the box and then watch your dreams chase you”Girls for Development Goals Foundation utilizes the United Nations SDGs as templates for its projects. With particularly interested in SDGs 3, 4, 5 and 17. The foundation have Partnership with Government agencies and other NGOs to reach it goals.
