Yetunde FADEYI, is passionate about the duality between energy and climate change and has spent the last three years providing sustainable solutions to energy poverty and environmental deficits in Nigeria. Recently, she was nominated for the prize for community action by The Future Awards Africa. In 2020, she was awarded the One Young World Ambassador via the Audi Environmental Foundation. In 2019, she was awarded the prestigious Chevening Scholarships sponsored by the United Kingdom Foreign and Commonwealth office and LADOL to study Masters in Sustainable Energy and Environment, Mechanical Engineering at Cardiff University.
Her yearn for responsibility led to the establishment of REES Africa – a youth-led non-governmental organization positioned to redefine lifestyle by enabling energy access and promoting environmental sustainability through advocacy and actionable projects. So far, REES Africa have electrified 11 rural communities without prior access to electricity via a model approach and affected over 20000 beneficiaries with our energy access and environmental programs.
According to Yetunde, “my inspiration stems from a perspective of urgency and experience. I have experienced the effects of what energy poverty and environmental issues can cause. I was a victim of flooding throughout my teenage years which could have been avoided if people dispose of their waste appropriately.”
On her advice to other young change makers, Yetunde said “Life is not a competition, it is a journey, in this journey all do your best” AFRICA envisage a developed continent where every person has access to clean energy and practices environmental sustainability as a lifestyle.
Yetunde and her organization shall be supported by Global Youth Network and its partner for this award iDixcover Opportunities with one year free promotion and connection to other possible funding opportunities and many others.Join us in celebrating her.
